A warm hearted read. My nana told me to grab this one. It talks about sibling and familial love. It was also cool to hear about Nicholas Sparks’ personal life while he wrote some books that I like.

A beautiful and heart touching memoir. I really enjoyed the humor and sincerity of the author.

This is the first book by Nicholas Sparks I've ever read, and I thought that at times it was a little sappy (as I assumed his works of fiction are), but overall, I enjoyed it.
The novel tells two stories: the "real-time" story of Nick and his brother Micah traveling around the world an the "flash-back" story of their lives together. It's (somewhat predictably) sad, funny, and touching--death, illness, autism?, marriage--and a pretty good read.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. While Nicholas Sparks is a good author, I have not read any of his books in a while. The interaction between him and his brother on their trip plus the memoir of growing up worked well. An interesting story.

This was such a good book. I'm only rating it 3 stars because I usually save 4 and 5 stars for novels and not biographies but if you are a Nicholas sparks fan I highly recommend you read this. It made me in a weird was be more devoted as a fan of Nicholas sparks. I rarely, I'd ever, cry in Books but there were several parts in this book that made me tear up. Great book. Read it!

4 and a half stars.
I thoroughly enjoyed this memoirs for two reasons: 1)it is written by a writer who knows how to successfully tell a story, so it is well-written and entertaining and 2)Nicholas and Micah Sparks were born at the same time period as I was so I can relate to the times very clearly in which the stories of the past take place.
I thought that this story was going to be about a trip the Sparks brothers take together, and although it is (though I thought they were biking across Europe and they are really flying around the world!), it is much more about their lives growing up. I think it is really interesting because you can see how his life experiences have shaped the books that Nicholas has written. I have only read about three of them and listened to one or two on trips, but now I am interested in reading a couple more realizing where there inspiration came from.
Their mother is, unsurprisingly, a key figure in much of the book. She has three things she tells them over and over as they grow up. One of them is, "What you want and what you get are usually two entirely different things." Reading that over and over I thought about how often that is the simple truth! If we accept that that will often be the case, I think a lot of us would be more content in life--instead of always expecting to get what we want--going along with what we get--make the most out of life anyway! I don't know why I like that phrase so much, but I do!
Now I'm off to review it with my favorite senior citizens!
