Great parts, but other parts that were entirely disappointing. The characters were inconsistent. It could have been a lot more.

An easy read, but somehow the characters of Schwartzy, Pella Affenlight and Henry Skrimshander didn't quite ring true enough for me.

Interesting story, but I would have preferred a "cleaner version". This book isn't really about baseball, and yet had such potential in that realm.

Have read some negative reviews on Goodreads and I agree with the criticisms. That said I enjoyed almost every minute of this book.

I really wanted to love this book, especially since it was set in Wisconsin, and the author is from there too.
I just don't enjoy baseball enough to get pulled in to the story. No fault of the author.

I LOVED this book... As an athlete I appreciated the desire to always perform at your best, to the point that it causes you to lose confidence in your natural talent. It was one of those books that appeared at the right time in my life. There is a great chance I will read this again.
