Iman easy read to be filed under the ´what is actually going on’ category, this is the story of Hazel, who told her sister -and only her sister- a made up fairytale when they were young. Her sister went missing when she was only five years old and Hazel was 15. Twenty years later, Hazel finds a published version of HER fairy tale.
Despite the fact that I didn’t love Hazel (she does something I really didn’t agree with early on in the story) this was very engrossing and has a lot to say about how stories can transcend the humans that tell them. Nice dual timeline.

I usually love historical fiction and mysteries, so I thought this would be right up my alley. I was wrong. At first it seemed to have potential, but by the time I got about 2/3 into the book I was finding it a chore to read and ended up skimming most of the last part of the book just so I could say I finished it. Everything worked out a little too well. Much of the plot, including the romance story lines, were very cheesy and, in the case of Peggy and Wren, completely unnecessary to the plot of the book. I think I was hoping for something with a little more depth and this just didn't deliver.

This was so good! I loved the story, I loved the ending, I loved Hazel and Kelty and Bridie, everyone really. It was a little slow at times, and then it sped up very quickly when everything was being discovered. 4.5 stars!
