Eron is a sandman. He puts his charges to sleep through seduction but never touches them or communicates with them. His job is to protect his charges. His 100 years as a sandman are almost up and he can return to being human in just a few weeks. Julia is one of his charges. Her boyfriend Griffin recently passed away and is gonna be Eron's replacement. Griffin is having a hard time letting go of Julia and starts leaving signs showing that he may be dead, but he is still watching her and that she still belongs to him. After years of putting Julia to sleep and watching out for her, Eron starts falling for her and even though it's not allowed, while he is transitioning to become human, he risks everything to be with her and not forget about her.

My thoughts on this book: I loved it! I love the characters and the plot. "Sleepless" kept me reading into the night while everyone else was sleeping. The way it was written made me feel that I was actually a real character in the story. I could relate with the characters and their feelings and so while I was reading, I was constantly rooting for Eron and Julia. When I was finished, I kept opening my eyes in hopes that maybe my own sandman would come. I can't wait to see what Cyn Balog has up her sleeve next. I recommend this story for those that love paranormal romance but are tired of the usual vampires and werewolves. 4 1/2 STARS

This book was good. It had an amazing plot and characters. I liked the storyline. I just feel like it lacked something. I just didn't get excited. I didn't feel compelled to read it when ever I could. Once or twice towards the end did I get excited or feel something but it wasn't enough. Eron was a cool character. It was interesting that he was a sandman. I liked learning about how he became one and how he felt about being one. He is really caring, nice, and protective of Julia. Julia is really sweet and innocent. I was rooting for them to be together. Griffin was a little bit of a jerk. I couldn't believe some of the things he's done. I understand some of his reasons but it doesn't mean he's right. I loved getting to see Eron and Julia's point of view. It brought the book together. The ending was good and really sweet. Overall this book was a good and quick read. It just lacked a little something.

We start with Julia. She was traumatized as a kid and still has the scars on her face to prove it. The whole world felt sorry for her and acted like she was too fragile.

Then she meets Griffin. The world is a joke to him. That is until he dies.

He and Julia had been going out for a while and he has made her strong, made her acceptable to the world. Julia takes his death lightly, no tears.

Enters Eron, short for a rather ridiculous name that I dare not even mention, is a stunning seventeen year old Sandman. He seduces women to sleep and protects them. They are not quiet dead but far from alive. Invisible to the human eye except in our dreams (which our eyes aren’t opens so this statement doesn’t make sense but I have not motive to change it) they sprinkle a dab of sand wave their hands and BAM were asleep!

Julia is one of Eron’s charges, or one of the girls he brings sleep to. But Eron’s time of serving as a sand man are up, it’s been 100 years and he ready to be human again. Funny thing is Griffin is his soon to be replacement.

This story is about a girl, her dead boyfriend, and her soon to be human, sandman. Serious damage is about to begin.

IN THE BEGINNING… it was a big fat bore (No, not the pig!). I mean the concept was the only thing keeping me from leaving the book and never returning. Luckily I did and boy was I rewarded! A big fat romance, of course, that is bound to shock and amaze. The story switches from Julia to Eron and back and forth. They each tell their story, Julia and her tragic accident and departed boyfriend, and Eron of his life in the 1900’s. They actually wind together nicely. The fact that Eron and Julia are falling in love just slaps icing on the cake. Their chemistry is undeniable. The middle of the book was like a build up that sucked you into the book. The end was a tragically misleading ending, I cried but I cry at a lot of things but mainly just good books. I recommend this book, it’s quick and cute!

I love sleeping.
After reading this book I wondered if there really was a Sandman who seduces me to sleep.

Sleepless was a very easy and light read.
The concept was very original.
It was not in anyway like my favorite graphic novel by Neil Gaiman, Sandman.
However, I felt that this book did not live up to its potential.
It was good but it could have been better.
I was a little disappointed with the characters as well because they were not thoroughly developed.
I liked Eron but I disliked Julia.
She was the type of character I would never like.
She doesn’t have self confidence.
She thinks too low of herself.
She depended too much on Griffin.
Arrrg.

Anyways, if you are just looking for a quick and sweet read then this book is for you. :D

MR. SANDMAN BRING ME A DREAM! Now that is out of my system, I thought I would provide you with a brief review on Sleepless by Cyn Balog.

Sleepless centers around a sandman named Eron. Eron has a charge named Julia. It is his job, as a sandman, to lull people to sleep every night. He grows attached to Julia. Of course, Julia's boyfriend dies within the first few pages of the book, and what do you know, he eventually winds up becoming a sandman. Julia, though, is dealing with grief and unwanted attention from her boyfriend's best friend.

In a genre dominated by vampires and werewolves, Sleepless was a refreshing and unique read. Cyn Balog takes the commonly known legend of the Sandman and adds to that legend with her own twist.

I loved the alternating point of views in this book. A lot of times, I feel, that alternating point of view takes away from the story, but I believe in this case it enhanced the reading of the story. I loved reading Eron point of view and seeing what it was like to be a Sandman, and learning from him, the difficulties of being a Sandman.

Cyn Balog did an excellent job of making me want to read more about these characters and the plot. There were many small mysteries, such as what happened to Julia when she was seven, that made me want to continue reading. The threat of danger to Julia also kept constantly shifting, making me want to keep reading to see who was actually the one who wanted to hurt Julia.

My only complaint was that this book was too short! I wish it was longer! Towards the end I felt the plot was a bit rushed and I just wanted to read about these characters and the world Cyn Balog created with the Sandman. I also must say too that at times I was frustrated with Juila for not seeing that her boyfriend was not as good as she thought he was and that he was a bad boyfriend. Overall though, Sleepless was a book that kept me turning the pages until the end and left me wanting more, always a good sign.
