I really value this book and its existence. It is relaxing as well as deeply important and educational. It teaches people what effects trauma has upon their body as well as the practical ways to manage these symptoms and their trauma.

I think this book is great for those who are interested in how trauma affects the body. Educators, therapists, psychiatrists, and so many more professions can benefit from reading. The only reason I didn’t give it a five stars is because at about the halfway mark I did start to lose interest but I think that was as a result of audiobook listening and not reading the print version. I am definitely going to reread someday in print and would recommend to everyone.

Definitely a heavy read and one that trauma survivors should tread lightly reading.

It's now 10 years old so I'm sure (hope?) the research has moved on considerably but it was an insightful read and a subject I would like to read more into.

this was a little hard to get through but super interesting! i struggled a little with the centering of veterans but i feel like this is more aimed at therapists (who have to treat all patients with compassion) than potential clients so i understand i don’t need to be comfortable with everything in here. overall this was so insightful and made me reflect a lot so i personally got a lot from this book, however, there is a lot of triggering content so i do advise proceeding with caution. it’s not perfect and there’s a lot of controversy surrounding the author but i still going it worth reading.
