Yes, Please is a collection of stories/vignette of Amy's life and career. The stories are light, fluffy and amusing. Unfortunately, there was a lack of deep-belly-laughs.

I adore Amy Poehler and listening to her read her book was great fun. She also had some wonderful guest readers, and there was clearly a lot of work that went into making the audio book its own vibrant experience. That being said, the content was maybe a little slim for me, but I still adore her and want to hear everything she has to say.

I don't think this was meant to be a funny book, but Amy Poehler is a comedian, and I can see why her fans expected this. There is no definitive structure to this book - it's made up of anecdotes of her life and it's not structured linearly, so she jumps back and forth which can be a little frustrating to follow. Her stories range from early childhood to how she discovered improv which then led to her SNL tenure and finally Parks & Recreation. That said, one of Poehler's gifts to the world is her voice and I thoroughly enjoyed her narration (yay thanks to my newfound appreciation for audiobooks) and voiceovers from her guest stars - there's nowhere else you can experience uninterrupted Amy Poehler time and you get >6 hours here. So yes, for an elevated~ experience, I would recommend listening to the audiobook rather than reading it.

Only downside was I wanted to hear details about her divorce...but otherwise great.

I enjoyed it or what it was, the memoir of a talented woman in the middle of a busy life. This is hardly a retrospective. It didn't wow me, and it's not the kind that sticks with you, but it entertained me. I do love Amy Poehler and would probably read a second book by her.

I love "Parks and Rec" and "ask amy," but this book was 75% disappointing. It was much too precious for my taste. There were a few good moments, but overall I feel that Amy held back a lot (something of which I'm certain she is aware).

I am so glad I listened to this on audio because it was great hearing Amy tell about her life. Some parts were pretty sad but she did not disappoint with her humor in between the heavier parts.
