Good collection of stories. The ones from Harris and Davidson are good. Hamilton’s story is OK, but nothing great. I especially liked Knight’s tale of Sir Galahad as a vampiric warrior.

The only story I read in this anthology is Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake story: The Girl Who was Infatuated with Death. I haven't read any Anita in a long time. This is a short but it reminded me why I like this series and that I need to get back to it. I don't know why I got side tracked from it in the first place. I've always liked Anita's attitude.

I read the LKH and Charlaine Harris Stories. They take about 20 minutes each to read, and are enjoying little tidbits.

The Girl Who Was Infatuated With Death by Laurell K. Hamilton
I am sure that at some point this short was included as a scene in one of the books or perhaps it was part of something else I read. It was very familar anyway. Since I have read all of Anita Blake there wasn't anything new in this for me.

One Word Answer by Charlaine Harris
Like the first story this was a "scene" and without the context of the books I don't know how appealing it would be. As with Hamiltons story, it felt very familiar but there wasn't anything new in it for me.

Biting in Plain Sight by MaryJanice Davidson
This was a fun little short, though not quite a story more an extended scene. A romance really, with Sophie, a small town vet who also happens to be a vampire, adored by Liam - a local farmer. Liam gets up the courage to tell Sophie how he feels and in amongst tracking down a serial killer, they get it together. We get a glimpse or two of Queen Betsy and Sinclair, as well as the other familiar Undead series characters. A good way to introduce the Undead series to those who havn't read them.

Galahad by Angela Knight
A raunchy read - unexpected after the first three very tame stories. I got drawn into this, initially it seemed a little absurd, but my interest grew. Having not run across the author before I plan to add her to my "to read" list.

Blood Lust by Vickie Taylor
A strong short story this is really the only one that lives up to the title. A good mix of plot, action and sex so that you feel something has been resolved.

Biting in Plain Sight - MaryJanice Davidson 3.5 stars
Fun and straight forward. It is good to know the characters of Queen Betsy and Sinclare ahead of time. I still don't know why Liam didn't approach Sophie sooner but it was "the right time".

July 12, 2014 -so far it is the only one I've read. So stars are for only MJD story

This is an anthology of 5 vampire-themed stories including new stories by genre leaders Laurell K. Hamilton (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series) and Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series.) I liked the Harris and LKH stories. For Harris, it will help if you read this before you read her Sookie book "Definitely Dead" as that book continually refers to events in this short story about Sookie's discovery that her long missing cousin was a vampire and the Queen of Louisiana's girlfriend. The LKH story takes place in the interval between "Blue Moon" and "Obsidian Butterfly" (I think) and therefore is in the early years when Hamilton still wrote stories and not the creepy porn that she writes now.

The rest of the stories in the book had some interesting ideas (and MaryJanice Davidson and Angela Knight have undeniable charm) but the stories were too fluffy and romancey for me. Not my thing but maybe it's yours.
