I loved this book. It had all my emotions out on front street and I loved every second of it. I wasn’t too excited about the ending but I think it was a good ending for the book.

 I was immediately wrapped up and fell in love with the characters (except Joel he can choke😂🤭) it definitely makes you think about how we operate life and makes you kind of wonder what would you do?

My big take away from this is just to love life even if it’s the little things because they can become the big things

I don't recall where I heard about this book but I'm so glad that I did! I will be looking at Cross-Smith's other books. 🙂. Definitely had me tear up a couple of times.

A rainy night brings Tallie and Emmett together at the right time for each of them. Tallie, a therapist recovering fom a devastating divorce, encounters Emmett at his lowest attempting to end his pain. Throughout the next 3 days, they experience a lot of emotions together.  But both of them are keeping secrets about who they are so they can be allowed the freedom of not being judged for their profession or their past.

A beautifully written journey about healing, taking up your own space and how to move forward.

This book is so beautifully written. It is a story of salvation and redemption. A story of true love and saving grace. Tallie and Bridge are complex, beautiful characters who have both endured tragedies and help one another learn to live with those hurts. The end was beautiful although the outcomes were not what I had hoped in some ways. I loved that this book is set in my hometown. I will read anything else this author puts on paper.

This book is really interesting and I was so invested and really wanted to get to know more about Emmet but oh my fucking god why the fuck are him and Tallie boinking??? In what way does that seem appropriate??? It just totally ruins everything. The book would’ve been so much more enjoyable if they were just friends. You don’t need to fuck just because you’re two hot straight people!

I received an arc of this book from NetGalley around a year ago and never picked it up (oops), but I am so glad that I finally did. This was such an original yet powerful premise. From page one, my heart was heavy, but I will say that it wasn't as sad and difficult to read as I anticipated it being. Leesa Cross-Smith writes about a difficult subject matter so effortlessly and I appreciated that we continued to learn more and more about Tallie and Emmett throughout the course of the novel. I also thought the author did a great job shedding light into the intersection of racism and mental health. I'll admit that the middle kind of lost me there, but the ending certainly made up for it and felt realistic in my opinion. I would definitely recommend you pick this up if you are looking for a character-driven book that makes you think, though make sure you are in the headspace for it!
