TW: ASSAULT I’d give it a zero if I could.
SPOILERS: It was a decent, fluffy, lower spice romance book until the last 30 pages. Why on earth would write a sexual assault between the MCs as a romantic flashback at the end of the book??? For anyone unsure, sex between a drunk person and a sober person is assault. It doesn’t matter if the man is the one who’s drunk, it is still assault. And the fact that he didn’t even remember meeting her let alone sleeping with her when she hadn’t even had a drink? Disgusting. On top of that this book deals with an abusive relationship (between fmc and another man) that happens when she’s 18-19 and he’s old enough to be her father, is in a position of power, and more. There’s no real justice for her besides getting away from him (which is fair and realistic) but she blames herself for her choices and there’s never a conversation to be had about his manipulation or the power dynamics between them. I personally think it’s irresponsible to include these elements without making sure to address them properly.
