Mr. Lavelle was simply not "intoxicating" enough the justify any of the trouble the MC went through...sorry

I thought I was going to get a funny Grand Tour book, but this was far more painful than I expected. There was a lot of harmful tropes that were used to further the plot.
It’s hard to look past the bury your gays ending and suggesting that a character was driven to suicide because his Jewish lineage is discovered is blatant antisemitism.

I dunno. Lavelle was a lot. I enjoyed a lot of the philosophical backbone of the book but I don't know if I needed another gay tragedy. The writing, especially surrounding sex, was often quite awkward.
