This was definitely entertaining and kept me turning the pages! Some of the twists were easy to predict but that might just be because I’ve read A LOT of YA fantasy so it’s hard to truly surprise me anymore. Will definitely pick up the sequel

I listened to this audio book but I think I need to read it. There were times I could feel myself super interested and then I would lose interest. Might have been to much detail for an audiobook! Going to maybe try this again in physical form!

Interesting world building. Lots of plot twists (which were all fairly predictable but still enjoyable to read). I really felt like there were some pacing issues since there were parts that felt like they dragged on. I also didn’t really feel all that invested in the characters -we didn’t get to spend enough time with any of the side characters for me to form any attachment. Except for Leo whom I love with my whole heart.
I have high hopes for the sequel based on where this one left off I think it could be a very different book so I will be reading.

Be inspired and based on are two different things that I totally misunderstood.
I was expecting a more a fantasy based on our world, but I am a bit annoyed because it's more like any other fantasy book I've read :( Though it really pissed me that a lot of words in supposed Spanish were incorrect. Some names aren't supposed to be names but surnames (Méndez, Cebrián), and oh Matahermano is so wrong. We have a proverb that says "maté a una mosca y me llaman matamoscas", so everytime its "matasomething" it's always in plural. It was so confusing that Andalucía and Galicia were cities insted of regions.
I could complain a lot more, but I'll stop here.
Other than that, there was a lot of plot twist and treachery that I didn't expect. Though sometimes I didn't understand it well because it's so fast-paced.
