Disappointed. The characters do not feel real, nor are they likable. Both protagonists honestly don’t have anything going for them. They also get together really fast after not seeing each other for years, no awkward phase. No exploration of WHY they like each other, I literally don’t know a single thing either likes about the other. My first manga so maybe I just don’t get it. I’ll give the next one a chance but after that I’ll be done with this series.

Interesting first volume. I’ve heard a lot about this series from various readers of manga and I’ve always been nervous about the disability representation but it’s clear that the mangaka is attempting to be extremely careful in how they depict Itsuki’s disability. I do think that it becomes a little too informational at some points which throws off its ability to tell a cohesive story. I’m also concerned with Tsugumi’s perception of herself in relationship to Itsuki, but I do think they have great chemistry and I like that they already have somewhat of a history from high school. I know that this series does get more difficult emotionally as the story progresses but I’m interested in seeing where it goes.

This series is amazing in so many ways. I love that it talks about how love might look different when people haven’t different disabilities. It was bold and forward and I really enjoyed getting to know the two main characters. Will I be buying the next volume? Absolutely.
