I picked this up after seeing the amazing lineup of narrators and it did not let me down. What a fun production! Admittedly a bit silly at times, but overall a wildly enjoyable ride.

Fun and epic adventure

I really enjoyed this audiobook epic fantasy. It was such fun to listen to. It lands between reading/listening to a book and imagining the story and watching a movie and seeing the story. It reminded me a lot of the radio programs before television. I’m not old enough to have heard them live but I have listened to some. The story centers around Laurel who had five magics and was considered the “chosen one” until she failed to save the world from Tybus. Unfortunately, she lost and now she’s the “failure” and resident pariah of the magic world. She lives in a fake magic shop with her friends, and fellow powerless supernaturals Sybil, a self-centered and over-smexed fairy and Frank, a fang-less vampire with a bald spot and a dad bod. Things are depressing and never changing until Kate, a supposed normie, arrives knowing things she should not and shakes everything up changing the trajectory of everyone and everything. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional main characters, a rich and diverse supporting cast, and an engaging storyline with snark, personal crises, action, semi-dangerous situations, supernatural beings, magic, loyal friends, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, plot twists, big feels, and laughs.

Audio add - The large cast of voice actors did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life allowing the listener to be fully immersed in the story. I also loved the added dimension the sound effects and music added to the story.

This story was wildly entertaining, fun & face-paced. An Audible exclusive with a full cast including Felicia Day, Sean Astin, Wil Wheaton & Neil Gaimon! I loved the characters and everything about this, and laughed out loud so many times!  It wasn't your typical "chosen one" story, which I really loved. Definitely recommend!
