I must say, this book made me hungry! (although I am not a fan of asparagus) The rhymes are so clever. I do wonder if students will be a bit confused-- after all, our pancakes, french toast, and waffles are usually in the freezer, anyway.

I am loving these books!
This one has enemies coming together, working against a common, new villain.

I shall never tire of the food puns!

What a delightful story with gorgeous illustrations! Just as much fun for adults as children.

What it’s about: The third book in the Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast series finds the titular characters working with characters old and new to solve the mystery of why the refrigerator is icing up. They need to hurry before everyone is frozen!

What I thought: I was very pleasantly surprised by how this book had callbacks to each of the earlier books - Funk seems to be building an entire world in which earlier events affect later ones - not something I am used to seeing in a picture book!

Why I rated it like I did: I really enjoyed the call-backs that reveal there is an ongoing chronology to this story. It makes me wonder where the series might end up! Will the food age? Be eaten? Where are the people who are not eating this food? I’m full of questions.

The imagination in these books are just astonishing. This tale has Pancake and Toast freezing. Something has come over the fridge and they have to find the culprit and get to defrosting. They will even make some new friends while they are at. This book is a literal food fight. And I can not help but imagining what is waring in my fridge.
