What a mess. I was hoping, after the morass that was all things Metal, that Snyder would write a simple story. A good story. But nope. This was like Death Metal injected into American Vampire. It’s making me wonder if the original actually WAS as good as I remember? This was annoying, with giant set piece stacked on set piece and characters popping up from nowhere, and doing Important Things that had no impact cause I couldn’t remember the characters and because they all kept changing sides.
Snyder used to be able to write? Didn’t he? Or was I on something all those years I enjoyed his early stuff?

My friend recommended this to me and HOLY SHIT IT WAS SO GOOD. I knew the ending and it STILL hit like a truck.

A great ending to one of my favorite graphic novel series. I will admit that it was longer than normal and some of the details of the full story and series was lost to me. I simply forgot a few details of this particular story and several of the storylines of the other characters. Skinner Sweet will always be one of my favorite antiheroes.

My only complaint about this is that it didn't come sooner! It's been several years since volume 8, so I had to do some rereading to refresh my memory a bit, but I'm so glad we finally have a good, solid ending for the series! It leaves it open for spin offs, but the arcs that have been happening throughout the series have come to a close. I hope we get more in this universe, but even if we don't, 1976 was a great way to end the series!
