Anticlimactic and predictable, will be cool to see where this goes though ...

Slow start (like through page 230) then the book gets exciting.

Quick and fast paced read that doesn't let you much time to overthink what happens. This is good and bad at the same time as you don't have time to react at some of the developments, especially the ending which is quite unexpected.
I enjoyed the different personalities of the Garde and how they interact with each other. I loved other surprises I won't spoil but what I loved the most was that Sarah gets to be a kick ass character and not a whiny girl in the corner.
After the huge cliffhanger at the end, I hope to find next book soon. Won't be able to hold on for much.

Not the best in the series. The fight scenes were dragged out and not as shocking as before. The story lines were really predictable - on goodreads threads for the other books we've speculated on a lot of themes, like Setrakus Ra's origin and the deal with five. The only positive to me was that Sarah did more in this book than provide a distraction for John. I like how kick-ass she was in this book, even if it does feel like every new book out, there's a new Sarah. I'm starting to feel, however, that this series is dragging it out like the House of Night books. Sure, this was the fourth book in the series, but there are six novellas. How many more will there be?

this book was fantastic!! I can't find even a hint as to when the next installment might be released but I am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
