This was a cute brother’s best friend romance. It was my second book by this author and like the first one it was very cute. But it had some issues, first of all the prologue happened 10 years ago at her 18th but now she’s 26? That just bugged me. Second of all the characters read so young and a little immature at points. And then again as with the first book I felt like it had too much drama for a story of its length. So much potential and with a little more fine tuning I think it could be great.

Okay, so I hate giving books lower starred reviews, but sometimes I have to. This might click with someone else, but unfortunately fell flat for me. I really wanted to love this novella, as I love the trope, normally, and the description enticed me.
I’ve read a lot of novellas and this one just seemed very disjointed in the transitions. I loved that we had a Filipina as a main character, but I felt bombarded with that fact, every other page, which I don’t think the story needed. The trope is best friends brother and I know normally the brothers are protective over their sisters, but I think this part of the trope was taken too far. Quite frankly her brother was a complete ass and way too overbearing for Stella being in her 20s. I could understand his behaviour when they were younger, but now it is a bit overkill. The last thing that didn’t work for me was unfortunately the writing. I already commented on how disjointed it felt, but I also felt the writing was very juvenile and I didn’t connect to the characters.
With all of that being said, I still want to read this author again, because I truly feel like the story had potential. Unfortunately, this novella just didn’t work for me, but I know it will work for some people.

This was a sweet and romantic best friends little sister love story with a sweet HEA and a tiny bit OW drama. Jaxson and Stella had a crush on each other for years but both thought the other one was kind of "forbidden" to date. Now they get their second chance. Sweet, romantic, not safe (if you are a stickler for safety
