This afternoon, snow didn't so much as fall from the sky as collapse all over the city. It took me over an hour to slowly dig the driveway, and even then it would have likely been another while longer if not for the arrival of my mother-in-law with her snow-blower (did I mention I have the best in-laws known to mankind?)

It was the wet, heavy, packable snow - the kind that's great for snowballs, snow-men, and horrible for shoveling. You can't push the shovel, only dig it out one shovel-sized chunk at a time. And it just kept falling, and falling.

Not a pleasurable afternoon.

"Loggers," by Bob Vickery

This seemed like a good time to step into Afternoon Pleasures to get that cold snowy feel off the soul. Erotica for gay couples, the anthology begins with Bob Vickery's tale of a pair of good ol' boy loggers, and their run-in with a protester who is against the deforestation that is their living.

An accident, combined with the loggers not being exactly thrilled with clear-cutting themselves, and one evening at a cabin later, and things take a turn for the better for the men. Cute, light, and quick, this story lets you know the anthology's tone will be - for the most part - lighthearted.

And, y'know, sweaty.
