okay, I admit this whole world is entertaining but like a man would never talk to me like that and walk away unscathed. I thought I liked my book boyfriend's toxic but Aiden King.... Jesus Christ. He is the most manipulative character I have ever seen as a love interest and I had to keep reminding myself to stop judging Elsa for being annoying. I feel a little bad but also what the fuck.
Every time he would threaten her, she would fight against it so hard knowing she couldn't win and let him turn her life and her friend's life into chaos and then give in and have sex once it was too much to deal with? I think she either should have let him ruin every time or give in immediately to whatever he said. She always gave in anyway, why not save yourself the trouble? Also consent is like not a thing in the Rina Kent AU which I know goes along with her (if it's not for you, don't read it)
. Aiden was hot but like... scary. I would move out of the country away from someone who acted like him. Like they're first few interactions are literally nightmare fuel but only slightly hot. Elsa and Aiden are both in psychological shambles with some seriously questionable turn ons but it was entertaining. I really never know what's gunna happen in these books and the whole memory loss plot with Elsa and all of Aiden's weirdness, like I need to know what happened. I feel like Aiden could never find someone who accepts him with his craziness like Elsa does, they both are so messed up it works. They terrify me just a little bit. I just can't see Aiden going white picket fence but apparently all Rina Kent couple get happy endings. I enjoyed this but also not at the same time? All RK's books are like anxiety attacks and butterflies all at once.
I did like how Elsa finally stood up for herself to Silver, I can't believe that bitch gets her own story

I can't rate this but I will keep going. Aiden is fascinating in an insane way.

I started with this book because I see people around me loves Rina Kent's books, and I was going to start with a famous series of hers, but it turns out that all of her books are connected in some way, and there was a girl who said that we should start with this book in the world of Rina Kent so here I'm:)
It was bad
I hated a lot of things in this book, starting with the character of the ml. I was really shocked that there were people who fell for him. I mean??
I hated how foolish and indecisive the fl was ,The only thing that motivated me to complete the book other than the fact that I wanted to read the author’s next books was the fl memories I was curious to see what it would be

”You’re going to love this, eventually” 😐
Well if that doesn’t just about Sum up the whole problem I had with this book.  I don’t mind a dark bully romance…I’ve read and loved MANY… but this was just a bit too much noncon for me. It was basically 250 pages of SA followed up by 60 pages of intrigue and entertainment.

I’m not here to yuck on anyone’s yum so if you loved this I love that for you! Unfortunately this wasn’t for me. Other reviews have said “This is good of you can turn your feminist brain off” and that’s most likely true. I just couldn’t.

I love Rina Kent tho and I’ll continue to read her work!!!

”Those who don't play think that the king is the most important piece because the game is over when he dies. They don't know that the king is useless without his queen.”

Aiden’s character piqued my interest while reading ”Cruel King” — so I was ecstatic when I found out that the next book in the series was his!

While I did enjoy ”Deviant King” overall (Note: I was aware of it being a dark bully romance novel — so none of its content took me by surprise) I will say that I wasn’t a big fan of the ending twist…

I did see it coming (so it wasn’t something out of left field) but it was too similar to Levi + Astrid’s situation with their parents (in my opinion) which bothered me.

(Are all of the characters going to be connected to their love interests in similar ways — or are the Kings just cursed?)

If you hate any form of misogyny in books, then this book is not for you. Within the first four chapters I had to pause and abandon my inner feminist due to Aiden’s character. He definitely is an anti-hero so don’t expect a fake/soft morally-gray  written character like in light romance books. Although this book does deal with graphic content and ambiguous situations the plot was something I was intrigued by, and made me eager to continue the book. Overall, the book was okay, it was hard to surpass the blatant misogyny and psychopathic tendencies of some characters, but the plot was worth it!
