أمين معلوف ورواية رشحها لي صديقي "حسام فاروق".

الكاتب لم ينل الكثير من الشهرة مع جودة كتاباته ورقي كلماته وجمال تعبيراته.

الرواية مكتوبة بالفرنسية وترجمتها للعربية "نهلة بيضون" - والترجمة جميلة حتى أنني شعرت أن لغة الرواية الأصلية هي العربية!

القصة تأخذنا عبر عدة أجيال ولكن الشخصية الرئيسية في الرواية هي "عصيان" وهو حفيد السلطان العثماني. انضم عصيان لحركة المقاومة الفرنسية إبان الحرب العالمية الثانية. وهناك تعرف على سيدة يهودية فأحبها ومن ثم تزوجا - وهنا سلط الكاتب الضوء على هذا الخليط غير المتجانس والأحداث التي رافقت البطل وزوجته والحقبة التي بدأ اليهود فيها باحتلال أراضينا في فلسطين.

فكيف لهذا المسلم أن يبقى زوجاً لمن أصبحت "اسرائي_لية" عندما تم إعلان قيام كيانهم المحتل!؟ وماذا سيترتب عليه هذا الإعلان لزواجهم ولأسرتهم!؟

القصة جميلة ومليئة بالمشاعر والأحاسيس ورغم أنها لم تتطرق للسياسة بالمرة إلا أنها وصفت ما يحدث في تلك الحقبة من منظور الأبطال بصورة رائقة.

الأحداث متسارعة ومتلاحقة ولا مجال للملل على الإطلاق - ودقة الوصف جعلتني أشعر أنني أرى وأشعر بما تمر به شخصيات الرواية.

الترجمة استخدمت الفصحى سرداً وحواراً - واللغة قوية وجميلة وسلسة.

I think I have already stressed enough that Amin Maloouf is a great story teller and this book is again a testament to that.

This story has all the juicy elements from 20th century like Ottoman caliphate collapse, the Great War, French resistance, Arab-Israel conflict and lastly Lebanon sectarian conflict. And there is Baku who is witnessing and living all these events and suffering their consequences, sometimes good and other times not favorable. This is actually a love story but without those cheesy elements that drive me away from such books.

I am an Amin Maloouf fan so would again recommend it to anyone wanting to read a light romantic fiction with exotic story telling.
