I devoured this book, I just couldn't stop reading it. It's definitely not a book for all readers, please check for trigger and warnings with the author before you try to read it, I would say if you have to check just skip this book altogether, it's not the book for you. However, I do love very dark romance, and I do not have triggers whatsoever, so I really enjoyed the story, I certainly can't wait to read more of the story and the characters involved. C Hallman knows how to write very dark romance and I am here for them all.

I was in a dark mood and wanted something messed up and this was a good read for that mood. I felt that it could have been better. There was some potholes but I read it for the smut.

not for the weak. was my first ever dark fiction, so it was a culture shock. I was nervous, I got scared a lot, and I was kept on the edge of my seat. I liked it, though. Took off a star because of preference.

• New Adult Dark Bully Romance
• Love Bug
• Triggers everywhere (but hey, I am addicted to this trope!)
• Single POV
• Seems like a modern Cinderella theme. The Olympic athlete-in-training who loses her home and wealth after a serious accident. Instead of stepsisters, she inherits stepbrothers. But where is Prince Charming?
• This is the first time the mother really is a gold-digger.
• The nicest person is the father. The cruelest person is the father. Ugh!

“You know, you might get a lot further along in life if you’d be a little nicer.”
Colt’s right. Leni is mousy, acts like a victim, and reminds me of a time of life I never want to revisit. Her attitude is like depression. Once you stop smiling, you isolate and lose your friends. You get more depressed. It is an endless spiral downward, and I see her spiraling. I want her to stop and take charge of her life instead of seeking out a nonexistent hero. The only thing I like about her is her desire to become a teacher and her decision to tutor virtually while imprisoned. That is cool!

And what a victim she becomes! I almost dropped the novel at 55%. The depravity exceeded my tolerance level. The rape and torture shocked me. I basically slid through pages until 80% of the novel (hey, I finally adjusted to the lack of consistent page numbers!) when her mother catches Leni in the act. Her mom doesn’t believe Leni’s lack of consent. Ouch. I wanted noncon…well, oops, I got noncon.

While I never really liked her, I got what I wanted out of the novel: redemption, groveling, and a statement about humanity. When you have bad experiences (and I have had many), one way to heal one’s pain: “You can forget all of that now. Let’s replace it with good memories.”

Reading the blurb did not prepare me for Lock Me Inside. Leni went through some horrible things and to have no one at her side, especially her mother, makes you feel for her. Nix and Colt are the definition of messed up stepbrothers and James is the definition of evil. This book is DARK DARK and I recommend heeding the trigger warning as they are not to be taken lightly. It does end in a HEA even though it is heartbreaking. I do wish one part would have been 100% confirmed though. I enjoyed this book even though it was hard for me to read it sometimes and that's saying something as I am not someone who has any triggers. I really liked C. Hallmans writing style and I look forward to reading more by them.

Over all writing was good , very dark but nothing I couldn’t handle.
The low rating is due to the many plot holes & ending. Like wtf type of ending is that ? There’s too many unanswered questions. I’m not even sure if there’s supposed to be a second book coming out or not since the author didn’t mention it at all. Though he did “hinted” at it in the last chapter.
Idk, regardless don’t read this until the next book is announced, if there even is one .

I gave it 3 stars because it was exactly what the author said... Not a dark romance. I didn't enjoy it but didn't take stars away for that. The plot was mediocre. The characters had no depth. Outside of abuse there was nothing to this book.
