Reading a book by Maeve Binchy, is like getting a hug from a loved one. It is safe and comforting. Sadly, I am almost out of her books to read...which I save for when I know I'll need a pick-me-up. She is not a brilliant writer, she is not Jane Austen or JK Rowling, but she is home. And she writes safe stories that take place in a cozy town....always in Ireland.
This is the story of a woman who returns to Ireland after many years in the US to build a hotel--- and in that hotel are many guests that Maeve introduces to us through out the story. There is the married couple, two doctors, looking for a break from their job. A man who has broken the law and needs a place to rebuild his life--- and a famous actor who is tired of the limelight and needs to be anonymous. The stories are nice--- nothing too flashy, nothing creepy or scary. I did not care for the last two chapters---- but that is just my style. I enjoyed falling into Binchy's world of fresh scones and crashing waves.
Read: read if you need to feel good and relax. 2017 Reading Challenge: a book with one of the four seasons in the title.

This was an easy, fun, lovely, cozy read. I liked how each guest and character was completely fleshed our with a whole backstory and a redemption story, and they all came together. It was really beautiful at some points.

Well done. Gracefully written tales of the lives of a dozen ordinary, decent people, whose lives come together at the opening of a bed and breakfast on the west coast of Ireland. Vivid descriptions of the people and the land, which is perhaps my favorite part of Ireland. I am thinking perhaps that is why I enjoyed the book so much -- that it reached a longing in my soul to be part of the wind-swept coast, with the sea and the wind beside you every day,

Closer to 3.5/3.75 stars... the writing was very good, and the format suited the story, but felt a little too disparate at times. Some characters' stories were less compelling than others, and though we know the common thread, it felt like there may have been some loose ends. But all in all, an entertaining book.

Beautiful!!! I was feeling restless, dissatisfied and this book was just what I needed to soothe and relax me.

I've never heard of Mrs. Maeve Binchy but this book - albeit her last one - was a fantastic discovery and I'd love to read all her other books.

It also confirmed the deeply rooted desire in me to discover Ireland one day. Who knows, maybe I'll stay in fabulous hotel like Stone House with a fabulous hostess like Chicky Starr!

For me, Binchy's book are literary comfort food and it was bitter sweet reading her final book. If you never read her work, I would start with Tara Road or Evening Class.

The first book from this author I ever read and I really enjoyed it. It was bought as a gift with two of her other books and I didn’t think I’d get through it considering my usual go to is murder/thrillers/mystery. Made me want to set up a cute little B&B briefly and I found myself very fond of all of the characters in the book, even the not so friendly ones. Will be reading more of this authors work.

Not her best book, not as good as Tara Road, Quentins or Nights of Rain and Stars but still an enjoyable read. Would have liked to have seen how the characters got on after their week even if it was just a small chapter tying it all up.
