"Thanku: Poems of Gratitude" by Miranda Paul and Illustrated by Marlena Myles was published in 2019. This book is awesome because of how relatable the poems are for all ages who read it. Everyone needs to work on constantly being grateful for things in life. Each poem in this book involves being thankful, happy, or showing good deeds to strangers! This poetry inspires the reader to be a better person in the world. It would be a great book to have in a classroom library to teach students gratitude and to be thankful. It is best for upper elementary age students! <Thankfulness> <Encouragement> <Poetry>

I'm glad we have this book in our collection, even though I don't particularly like it. The different forms the poets explore are really fun and I can see a kid trying out some of them. On the whole, I found the quality of the poems to be underwhelming and the illustrations... Oof. But I looked at the artist's website and her murals look amazing! The pictures here are less than amazing. I hope this book finds an audience beyond English/language arts/creative writing teachers.

Here you will read 31 kinds of poetry saying thank you by adults from various walks of life. One or two of these are a bit *too* adult for a child in my opinion. If you are a parent willing to do the explaining, then it isn't a big hurdle to jump. It's perfect for stay-at-home learning about poetry.

A book.of poems about being thankful, thanku is a book for kids (and adults!) who want to read poetry. A plus for this book is that the illustrations are unique and colorful, so even reluctant readers may enjoy this one.

In the back, there is a list explaining the different types of poetry used in the book, so a good project to do after reading might be a write poetry project. Overall, this book will appeal to several different audiences, and you might learn something new, too.

I received this arc from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the focus on gratitude of all kinds, for all things but was especially fascinated by the variety of poetic styles and structures. Words - and writers - are amazing.

Wonderful poems, great for home and classrooms, with brief explanations of the poem types at the end. Some very charming illustrations as well, though some more so than others for me. Suggested for all ages.
