Ugh. I'm mad at myself that I bothered to finish this, but at least it wasn't too much time at 263 pages. Uninterestingly written and boring drivel without a believable character, line of dialogue, or scene in it.

More News Tomorrow: A Novel
by Susan Richards Shreve
A Gem (4/9/2019)
I really liked this book. A generational murder mystery that needs to be solved for the 70 year old protagonist Georgie. But the drama surrounding the current generation almost overtakes the original murder. There were multiple narrators but I found it easy to follow and felt that Ms. Shreve's key characters were well developed. This is a GREAT book club title. I will suggest it to my reading friends. If I could I would really give this book 2.5 stars. It wasn't that it was really awful, it's just that it wasn't really interesting for me. I kept reading it thinking that it had to get better, but it never did. In fact, I really disliked the end of the story.
It's about a seventy year old woman whose mother was murdered when she was four years old and her father confessed to doing it. Her father died four years later in prison from pneumonia. Before he died he sent her a letter which makes her believe her father only confessed to protect someone else. Sixty-seven years later she takes her family on a trip to discover the truth of what happened that day.
The book moved pretty slow. Had there been a bit more action and more clarity on some things I think I would have liked it a lot more.

There was something really lyrical about this book, and the characters had potential. Overall it was anti-climactic.

Good prose...but not really a compelling story. I think I just didn't get most of the motivation of any of these characters.
