Its been a while since I have read a book of poetry. Loaned to me by a friend, this was an excellent set of poems to ease me in. Speaking of humanity, spirituality, and reflections of life- this author lured me in and I found myself staring into space after each poem and relishing it.

I've been wanting to read something by Ursula K. Le Guin for ages, but was unsure of where to start. I chose this book of poetry, and am so glad I did. The poems are beautifully written, covering a wide variety of topics, and you can tell she was writing these with a lifetime of experience behind her. My favorite section was So Far, a collection of poems covering a ship's journey. I think this book will be one I return to every now and then, especially as I get older, as her descriptions of aging feel so heartfelt and genuine. I can't wait to branch into her fiction, now that I have somewhere to jump off of.

not my favorite style of poetry, but these were very sweet. her last publication before her passing definitely makes me more curious about ursula k. le guin as a prose writer!

I’ve been trying to branch out into poetry and this was the perfect way to do it because I love everything LeGuin! My favorite one was about an owl hoping that winter lasts longer so he can have longer nights. That flipped my perspective since I always dread the dark winters in the mountain west.
