My thoughts....I was introduced to these books through several people I follow on Instagram. While I did feel that the main character's "voice" early in the book when she was younger was a bit "older" for her age, this didn't detract from the story.

For me there were things in the book that I probably caught and enjoyed more than a typical reader. First was the fact that Alexa's step mom was an Architect that ran her own business. YAY!!!! It's not often that women in the architecture field are characters in Young Adult or New Adult books and I loved that it wasn't Alexa's dad that was the Architect but her step mom. I guess I've rambled enough, but being an architect myself and running my own business this was a detail that I really connected with. :) I could also tell that the author had direct knowledge of the construction field and I love being able to see a bit into the author as well while reading the story.

Ok, back to the rest of the story...throughout the story I was following the "crumbs" that T.R was dropping through the story knowing that there was more to the surface love story of the main characters, but I'm still guessing. I think I might know where she's taking the plot, but I really can't be sure and that leaves me needing to jump right into the next book. And of course T.R. left the ending with enough mystery that now I'm really hooked.

Good job T.R. on your debut novel!

I only made it through a few chapters but the chapters I read pretty much sucked. The way the author described people, surroundings, and food (yes food) all read as if I was reading off a list of facts.

" Even though the house looked to be only two stories from the outside, when you walked in the front door, it was actually three levels. We were standing by the sunken living room that was off to the right of the foyer, with an attached, raised formal dining room off of it. The massive eat-in gourmet kitchen was directly in front of us, and it overlooked the family room below. To the left of us were a set of stairs leading up to the third level and another set leading down to the lower-level family room."

"I finish making our pepper turkey on sliced sourdough sandwiches, and we take our seats at the dining table, eating in silence and drinking waters, trying to rehydrate."

Not to mention that during the time when Alexa was concerned about her parents safety and after (I mean immediately after) Alexa's parents have been confirmed dead she still can't shut up about her lust for Ethan. Not to mention she sounds pretty damn experienced for a "virgin" who has had only two real kisses and zero boyfriends.

To me Alex Crushed was setting up to be a bad porno, bad plot line included. No thank you.

A cute, fun, flirty read that really got me toward the end of the story with the mysterious events that are starting to unfold. Lexi is cute ... not annoying like most leading ladies. Starting book two right away!

Alexa Crushed (Alexa Series Book 1) by T. Cupak is the first novel in the Alexa series that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. This story is written in first person POV by the main character, Alexa. This novel has all the feels: devastating blows, hope, frustration, anger, and elation. Such a wild ride on Alexa's journey through life.

Alexa Morgan has experienced a lifetime's worth of loss before she even enters adulthood. Her mother commits suicide when she's just a toddler, and her Dad and step-mom die tragically in an earthquake when she's only eighteen. Through all the tragedy, she has had a close friend to lean on-Devin. While she cherishes their friendship, he wants more. But Alexa doesn't see him that way, and when she tells him-the only person remaining in her life walks away. You can't help who you are attracted to, and Alexa isn't drawn to Devin-she is crushing on the bad boy next door. Older and much more experienced, Ethan has a revolving door of girlfriends. He's not much for having stable relationships, but Alexa in a moment of grief finds comfort in him. Then he's gone, and she is left alone yet again wondering why everyone in her life disappears. On the verge of giving up, Devin returns to be her calm in the midst of the storm. She sees him in a new light, but is it enough for her to take a chance on something more?

This was such an amazing wave of emotions! Being written in first person, you feel what Alexa is feeling through all the pain and loss. Read in one sitting, as I couldn't put it down. Such amazingly detailed characters, and fast paced story lines. From the start, it shows the tragic life she's had to live through. Many twists and turns, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel!

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review from the author. It does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Full Review on Brianna's Bookish Confessions.

This book hurt. It was a roller coaster of emotions and definitely is not a light read.

Alexa has lost all 3 of her parents, her birth-mom, dad and step-mom. Her birth-mom died when she was 2, so she doesn’t have any memories of her. Alexa calls her step-mom her mother. They were extremely close. One day, while Alexa is at the house, Ethan her neighbor who is 4 years older than her shows up and they experience a deadly earthquake. After Ethan makes his move on Alexa, but he flees the next day with no word of where he went or where he’s going. The only person who can help her cope with everything going on in her life is her best friend, Devin who stopped talking to her for 2 years. When Devin starts showing his feelings towards Alexa, she quickly realizes her feelings for him.

I like that we got some back-story and it wasn’t just a chapter or so long. It was a good portion and I enjoyed that aspect. We get to see more of Alexa’s childhood, along with Devin and her parents. You are just waiting for the one moment when everything comes crashing down. I honestly had a very difficult time putting the book down.

Literally this book hurt… T. Cupak is a fantastic author for sure and I’m dying for the sequel. It does leave on a cliffhanger so consider yourself warned. :) But I promise this is one you won’t regret reading!

This does include a include a love triangle, but in my opinion, it is one you have so many feelings towards. You literally fall for one, get crushed by him, fall for that one then get confused as Alexa is. I don’t know who to root for, Devin or Ethan… Both are swoon-worthy and both have sides that can be easy loved. Ethan, the bad boy who is mysterious; Devin, the sweetheart and best friend.

I cannot praise this book enough and even after a week of reading this, I’m still at a lose for words.

This book was fine but rather unmemorable for me. Honestly I am having a hard time remembering the plot and I just finished it a few days ago. The writing style as acceptable but it just did not really hold my interest.

4.5 stars but rounded to 5 :)

I was totally expecting just an emotional book, which by the way it was, but it slowly turned into a suspenseful mystery. I don't know where this book is going. Will she stay with Devin or go with Ethan. I just have so many questions! But I'm glad I finally picked this book up and read it! I usually don't find myself reading books with love triangles but this one didn't disappoint.
I'm really excited to see what happens in the next one!
