In "This Day," Blanka Lipińska delivers a gripping sequel that plunges readers straight into the whirlwind life of Laura Biel. Set against the backdrop of luxurious Sicily, Laura's world appears to be a fairy tale come true—complete with a grand wedding, a wealthy husband, and the promise of a baby. However, this opulent life is overshadowed by the constant threat of kidnapping from the dangerous criminal underworld. Lipińska masterfully ramps up the tension, creating a narrative brimming with drama and intrigue.

What stands out in this book is its sizzling chemistry and fast-paced plot. The story's rapid progression and high stakes ensure there's never a dull moment, making it a compelling read.

What I didn't like was the character of Olga, Laura's friend, who often comes across as irritating and adds little to the story.

Despite this, the book’s captivating twists and the intense portrayal of Laura's challenges keep readers hooked from start to finish.

Book 2 in the 365 Days series was just as good as the first. Still super steamy, I liked that they got married and I would love to see her dress. I also enjoyed having Olga part of the story. It was nice for her to have someone close throughout all the secrets she had to keep from her own family. I also liked that even tho she had these secrets, Massimo allowed her some normalcy by allowing her to see her family. There were a few things that I didn’t like. Her inability to stay and figure things out was bothersome. She just jumped to conclusions instead of staying to get answers. And the situation I’m thinking of, her best friend knew the answers and she could have done a better job at resolving the issue instead of letting her run the way she did. I also still didn’t care for her calling him “the Man in Black.” Laura called him that in the first book and it didn’t work then either. I feel like a lot of things happened that were bad because of miscommunication.

While I didn’t love these books, they kept my interest and I’m genuinely curious how the third book is. After the way book 2 set it up I feel like book 3 can go in any direction. This was still a good read and I think it was a good continuation of book 1. Worth a read!

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

This Day picks up shortly after 365 Days ends, with Massimo and Laura dealing with the aftermath of an attempt on her life. Don Massimo struggles to allow Laura to be her own person as he is used to keeping control of everyone and everything in his world. Unfortunately, Laura doesn't take kindly to being bossed around. However, she loves Massimo so much that she has decided to try to allow him to care for her. Especially since they have a baby on the way. To add to the stress of an unplanned pregnancy and trying not to get killed by Massimo's rivals, Laura is also planning a wedding.
After a whirlwind wedding, and a honeymoon that comes to an abrupt end, Laura has to face the harsh realities of being a Mafia boss's wife. Along with managing those realities, there are also marital hiccups for Laura and Massimo to face that cause several emotional misunderstandings. Then, just as Laura has begun to settle into her life as Massimo's wife, she is kidnapped by a hitman named Nacho, who is also the son of Massimo's enemy. At first Laura is terrified, but the more time she spends with the handsome hitman, she begins to realize that despite his reputation for being one of the most dangerous Spanish hitmen, he is actually kind. As Laura lowers her guard, she soon starts to see Nacho as a friend, and before long confusing feelings stir within her, and she worries she may be attracted to him. Laura fights to stay faithful to Massimo and maintain her hope that he will rescue her and their unborn child. Eventually, Massimo and his enforcers come to Laura's rescue, but when tragedy strikes, it may be too late.

My overall thoughts on this book are that it had a decent plot, but there were things that happened that made me cringe. This book had so much potential to be a five-star read, but I just feel as though there were too many moments in it that had it not been a Netgalley copy, would have made me stop reading it. The book is supposed to be romance, but honestly there is not much I found romantic about the moments between Massimo and Laura. I know Laura likes rough sexual activity, but Massimo is borderline abusive to me, and I don't like that. Because of the cliffhanger ending of this book, I plan to read the third, but I really hope the toxic masculinity in the first two books isn't as rampant in the third.

Likes:
-The plot of Massimo's enemies attempting to kill Laura made for an intriguing read. It's why I kept reading.
-I actually found Nacho much more likable than Massimo
Dislikes:
-There is SO MUCH toxic masculinity in this book. There were FAR too many men doing things that overstepped boundaries and it was unacceptable. (i.e. embracing a MARRIED pregnant woman around her waist IN HER BED without asking-and I don't mean a hug).
-Men BRUTALLY attacking women and getting away with it
-Why does Laura STILL refer to Massimo, her husband as "The Man in Black" ?
-Why does Laura STILL refer to Massimo's accent as BRITISH? He's ITALIAN.
-Massimo is physically abusive (particularly in Chapter eleven), under the guise of being protective. He choked Laura so badly that her feet left the ground. That is NOT OKAY.

Overall I did not care about the characters or the storyline. This is a problematic steamy relationship. I found the constant fight on whether Laura was having a boy or girl annoying. It was very fast paced with ton of action constantly. The chapter were long. The translation wasn’t perfect. The storyline could have flowed better.

I really wanted to enjoy this series more, but it just did not pull me in. Even with all the drama, I didn't feel the connection to the story I was hoping. I can't find myself liking the characters, although I am intrigued to see where the story is going.
