some really gorgeous shots of marilyn, this would make a great coffee table book. when i bought it, i expected it to be predominantly photos with details of designers but there were quite a few interesting facts and information i hadn’t read before. one critique i have, is that i could personally have done without the author’s unnecessary commentary in sections. for example on page 223:

“this is one of the few times when she got everything wrong. the dress is too tight, the pose forced, the gloves are ugly, and the hair is messy without any flair. worst is the silly hat that resembles an inverted knit flowerpot.”

those comments aside, an interesting read that has reignited my love for marilyn

This is a wonderful book that is divided into numerous sections about Marilyn Monroe's style. From the various designers she frequently wore, to her own personal wardrobe, to even the sweaters she owned. I was little surprised there wasn't more about her swimwear, but that's just a small quibble.

I loved reading about her clothing preferences, and how she would work with designers to achieve her preferred look. I'd have liked more of a comparison between her modelling looks, her film looks and her own personal attire, but I suppose that's too much to ask.

If only I could afford to buy this book myself..!
