4 KANDY CANE STARS

I loved this book from the very beginning to the end. Could have been 5 stars, but my five start ratings are normally reserved for darker books..

Spoiler I loved how the first few chapters start with Kandy as a child growing up. I liked how her crush turned into more as time passed. The sex between the two was written nicely and i loved how they were always worried about getting caught, but never took precautions to make sure the secret was safe. self control .

I was not a fan of how they played the age difference card so much. And how they were always so sad about wanting each other.

My least favorite part of the entire book was Kelly. I wish they would have left her a nice woman who had suspicions, but the writer just had to tun her into a villain Bitch. ughhh.

the good of the book out weigh the bad and in many instances i was shocked that the book went in a different direction than i expected.

Him calling her kandy cane or bits always made me smile.

will more than likely be picking up the next book!

What an impressive story of forbidden love! Very wrenching, very passionate, very complicated! The story is riveting and angsty and for me, anxiety-ridding. I was in a state of expectation as I read the book, expecting disaster happening after every page.

This is a book about one of the most forbidden relations there are; a young girl falling in love with her father’s best friend. They met when she was nine years old and Cane was a twenty-five year old man, just starting his company. From the start, Kandy developed a big crush on Cane.

Cane’s best friends are Candy’s parents, Derek and Mindy. He has a broken past, and Derek represents all that is good in his present life. He’s a self-made millionaire in a company that sells wine, chocolate and lingerie, and he showers Derek, Mindy and Kandy with frequent gifts. They in turn shower him with love and family life. As Kandy grows up, her interest in Cane grows. It gets worse when her teenager hormones go awry.

What I didn’t like about this book was how aggressive and forward Kandy was with Cane. She was the promoter of all their trysts and afterwards would wallow in guilt and despair. Cane was reluctant to start something with Kandy but was helpless in the face of her passion and aggressiveness. Obviously, he was thinking with the wrong head and was a victim to his desire. He was swimming in guilt and had a hard time balancing his love for Derek and his lust for Kandy. When they were together it felt right and like they belonged together, when they were apart, it felt sleazy and wrong. There was a lot of back and forth, coming and going, repentance and passionate sexy trysts, until a surprising and explosive plot twist throws a wrench into the works. Then the story ends in a spectacular cliffhanger and we have to wait for the next sequel which is about a month away (cue passionate sobbing).

Great writing, great pace, great characterization, and a forward rushing plot that had me biting my nails.

The first book I reading by Shanora Williams.
It was okay I think. I liked that it was a forbidden story.
The writing was really great.
The only problem was the characters. i wanted to slap soo many times the heroine Kandy. She's 18 but she acted sometimes like she was 13 years old.
And about Cane, I can't say anything maybe that I liked to know more about his history and his life background.

Naughty

Pretty good. Never thought I would like the age gap trope, but I do. While there were a couple of instances of odd phrasing, it was well written. Kandy was immature, and I’m hoping that improves. Very steamy.
