This book thoroughly irritated me, most of the time.

The MC's whined too frequently about not knowing if one felt the same way, or if he was even gay - which really worked my nerves for the first half of the book.

In the middle there was just a lot of hot, steamy scenes.

Towards the end, they wouldn't publicly come out, which pissed me off.

Two and a half stars because some of it was actually able to hold my attention. And because I liked the writing style.

I liked the shirt with the slogan -

I don't know, you guys... Maybe if this was the first or only m/m story I had ever read, I might have rated it higher, but 4 years and 1600+ m/m novels later, this story and the writing was pretty underwhelming. Also, the head hopping EVERY. OTHER. PARAGRAPH. drove me bananas.

Oh man, I am so conflicted with the rating on this one because:

I LOVED LOVED LOVED the relationship in this. It was everything to me. It made my heart flutter. There were no dumb conflicts that were created just for the sake of drama. Once they figured out they liked each other, it was mostly just about them trying to grow together and navigate their relationship, which I ADORED.

But, and this is a big one: THE WRITING WAS SO BAD. It wasn't even all of the writing. Most of the dialogue was so good. The descriptions were so awkward though. There was way too much of "the science teacher" or "the other man" instead of just using pronouns or the guys' names. It really seemed like the authors were allergic to using a person's name more than once in a sentence. The awkward descriptions took me out of the story or made me wince regularly, and that just makes me SO SAD. I also feel like the POV switched much too often.

I will say that whenever there were no odd descriptions instead of the protagonists' names, the sex scenes were pretty hot and well-written. Which is clearly the most important, ha.

What is really weird, though, is that what I just complained about re: descriptors completely disappeared through the last 10% of the book? Like, for the last 10%, the writing was suddenly so much better and there was less awkward phrasing. I don't know what happened there. Different editor? I have no idea. It was just a very odd thing to happen.

Also, there's not a single three-dimensional female character in this, which is irksome. The few women they have are all clichéd love-crazed morons and I am VERY unimpressed with that.

So yeah, HIGHLY recommend for the romance in this, but beware of some ~problems with the book.
