First I should start by saying that, as an actress, I love Sally Field.
There aren't a lot of actors that move me the way she does. I grew up on her movies and in the last decade, the show Brothers and Sisters (admittedly it's not a great show on its own but dazzles every time Sally Field graces us in a scene). I wonder all the time how someone so petite could have such a large emotional presence. She's the real deal.
Sally is also so much more than a celebrity. She's made up of so many layers that, once peeled back, reveal an incredibly complex and recovering person. Sally's story is really devastating. The level of detail in this book around her trauma brought up painful feelings for me and I sobbed my way through it's final chapter. It was a hard read that really humanized the actor-Sally I knew and I appreciated her vulnerability and humility as she shared. Sally's story is also inspiring and I hope it was a cathartic and healing process for her to share parts of it with us. ❤
