It had potential

I liked the premise of this book but the plot was kind of all over the place especially after the sex scenes came into play. None of those scenes ever evolved organically which made them seem abrupt and out of place. There were a lot of interesting subplots going on but they were really disorganized and more than I think fit comfortably into the same story. Many were half developed and the resolutions fell kind of flat. The characters were interesting and I could see what the writer was trying to do but she didn't quite get there.

This author used up every 'jock' and 'good girl nerd' stereotype there is in the first two chapters. The FMC literally said 'maybe he wasn't a douche like all the all the other athletes in my life'  and I eye rolled so hard that I think my eyeballs left their sockets. The Pièce de résistance was the FMC saying 'I'm not like other girls'. It's a DNF for me.

The first chapter wasn’t anything like I was expecting had me immediately hooked! It definitely breathed life into what can be an overdone trope. It had everything that we love about a fake fiancé story, but had undercurrents of mystery that kept it interesting.

Damn! This book is not good. Like u get drunk with empty stomach then the next morning u wake up with ugly tattoo on ur face. Its just so bad that way.

The characters are weird, stiff and 1 dimensional. No character development between Max and Sunny. I am very confuse why Max interested with Sunny. Their chemistry is.. well... fake. The second characters are cheesy. They do not support the development of the story. And the wording.... it feels like the author copies and paste from other books.

I loved the first half of the story. The banter, getting to know you and the slow burn. Max and Sunny were opposites and those are my favorite kinds of couples. This story had the makings of everything I normally love in a book but sadly as the story went on I checked out. There's was so much drama that wasn't needed and took away from the main focus of the story. Certain issues I wanted more details and the issues that we got closure on didn't concern me at all. The ending was rushed and kind of a letdown. I have enjoyed other books by this author but sadly this didn't work for me.

I enjoyed this book. The hero is an all star college football quarterback. The heroine is a girl just trying to put herself through college. There is an instant connection, but not instalove. It was kind of different from anything I've read in a while. It was a fun story to read.
