It was fine. It didn’t blow me away, and it made me kind of sad how deadpool wasn’t as fun and lively as most of the time. I kind of got lost a little bit (i don’t know all of the characters), but as a story, I feel like it was kind of generic¿

So, the first couple of issues were a little bit confusing - lots of time jumping back and forth, and very rapid introductions to all of the characters as the team was gathered together by Red Hulk. Once it settled down, though, I loved this collection: there's loads of actions, but the interactions between the characters - particularly between The Punisher and Deadpool, and Deadpool and Venom - really elevate it to brilliance.
I'd been thinking about reading Thunderbolts for a while, but I wasn't familiar with all of the team members (particularly The Punisher and Elektra) but after familiarising myself with them during season two of Marvel's Daredevil I felt a lot more comfortable reading this collection. If you don't have prior knowledge of the characters it might be a bit of a strange place to start: because there are so many of them they don't get in depth introductions, so it'll take a bit of time to adjust.
I wasn't sure whether I was going to carry on with Thunderbolts, as this is the only volume that my local library have in stock, but after enjoying this so much I'm definitely going to have to purchase the second volume, 'Red Menace'. I can't wait to carry on reading this team, particularly as a collaboration between Daniel Way and Steve Dillon.
