Although there is a good plot and interesting characters, there is also a focus on societies. It's a pity Story Graph doesn't use this third dimension in it's categorisation.

Think of all the utopias and dystopias.

review yazmadan geçmek istemedim, kısacık bir not düşeyim. okumamın uzun sürmesi tamamen kendi kabahatim, normal şartlar altında vakit varsa bir, yoksa iki günde bitecek bir kitap. benim biraz kaotik bir dönemime denk geldi. çeviri ithaki basımı olduğu düşünülürse hayli iyi. kitabın temelini oluşturan ana fikir çok iyi, hatta game of thrones'taki winter is coming/wall kavramlarına ilham verdiği yazılmış zaten defalarca. detaya bakınca iki farklı türün kendisine "insan" diyip diğer türe farklı ve hafif aşağılayıcı isimler bulması muazzam bir detay. toplumlardaki ötekileştirme, kendini merkeze koyup en yüce kabul etme gibi anlayışları sağlam gözlemlemiş ursulacığım. ama uygulamada bir ursula k. le guin romanına göre basit kaldı, biraz masal gibi. keşke ayfer tunç'un kapak kızı'nı tekrar güncellediği gibi bu romana bi güncelleme gelseydi. yine de ursula ursuladır, okumak her zaman büyük zevk.

I listened to the audio of this and it was really well done. There is a different narrator for each of the two main characters and it works really well for the POV shifts in the story.

Very straightforward story of explorers from Earth who have been on an alien (titular) planet for 600 years. The action here is an invasion from the north, precursor to a long winter, and the described siege reminds me of [b:Legend|618177|Legend (The Drenai Saga, #1)|David Gemmell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388201276s/618177.jpg|1805413] by [a:David Gemmell|11586|David Gemmell|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1202771023p2/11586.jpg].

Unfortunately, there isn't must story to it other than that. The main female character is strong and well written. Her romance with the male protagonist has aspects of Romeo and Juliet. I understand a descendant of her race stars in [b:City of Illusions|201889|City of Illusions|Ursula K. By itself, though, I just can't recommend it.
