A mix of fairytale and war drama this book is couched in tragedy and hope. The magical realism elements are woven expertly through out the story and tie everything up very neatly.

Wow. This book was enchanting. You want a dark fairytale with beauty, danger and a taste of the cruel hand of life with a beautifully illustrated touch of magic ? This book. This one. What a fantastic movie based novel- Cornelia draws the story to life in such ways that make me feel as if the book is breathing and growing in my hands. Fantastic read I wished their was more to it. A definite favorite forever.
