I’ve loved a lot of Lauren Layne’s other books but this one didn’t work as well for me.
I don’t love when the major conflict is a lie of omission that one party holds on to for way too long. Then it felt like the ending was really rushed.
I am still looking forward to trying the next in the series but I would recommend starting with other books if you are new to the author.

It was good!! But not explicit, which is what I was reading this author for. It skips the good parts!

Naomi is an almost billionaire running a successful company she started from the ground up. She is however harboring a lot of resentment for a family her mother worked for as a child. Her mom had an affair with the husband of that family and eventually they ended up on the street. Years later she has the opportunity to move in this family building and plans on seeking revenge. But the family is no longer the same, the young son of that family is now a handsome 30 yo that is struggling with his father's illness. Naomi is also insanely attracted to him but cannot seem to admit who she really is. It was a nice light read and it was sweet to see Naomi letting go of her resentment.

I especially enjoyed how the three friends--- Naomi, Claire, and Audrey --- met and became one another's support group. This story focuses on Naomi, who is dealing with baggage from her childhood that causes her to take an apartment in a somewhat stodgy, old-money building on the Upper East Side. She meets Oliver, her handsome neighbor, first when she interviews with him for the co-op board and then when he comes by her new apartment with champagne for a new neighbor. I enjoyed Oliver's character as well as Naomi's; they were both interesting and well-developed characters. And I enjoyed the romance. I am guessing both Audrey's story and Claire's are coming along next in the series. Looking forward to it!

I like this significantly better than the second book. For some reason I read them out of order. Anyway, I really wasn’t feeling the female narrator here so I’m docking of a quarter star lol, but I definitely felt a lot more chemistry between Oliver and Naomi. It was also a sweet story about forgiveness and second chances, which I liked. The ensemble cast thing is pretty cute.
