This is a horror graphic novel about white people getting credit for technology created by people of color. The building itself is hilariously ugly but it's interesting to understand how some of the characters show that love put into something undesirable creates value (that then gets taken away and miscredited. Color scheme meant to complement the grotesque living building and stimulate the nausea that it should already induce, as it lives off excrement and absorbs people whole and all that.

It’s an interesting story, and for the most part the illustrations work well. I liked the colour coding and the easily identifiable flashbacks. I didn’t like how hard it was to see what was going on in some of the panels (pinks and oranges easily merge making the monster hard to see...but maybe that’s the point). I liked the little touches in the building that hinted at what was going on, the general sense of unease, and the commentary on racism within society (including long term friendships). I thought it was done fairly well, but it was a sweeping statement and one which would’ve done better if gone into more thoroughly. I wanted to love this one, but it felt too quick and like it lacked the depth I was hoping for. Overall, pretty good though.

great premise, great execution, i think i honestly just wish it had been longer! a fantastic combination of beautiful, mood-establishing art and text that prompts a nuanced conversation around gentrification, its perpetrators, and its victims.
