There is a line of thinking that a free-market economy will prevent unnecessary jobs in the private sector. Only the public sector can have unnecessary jobs. This book shows that this line of thinking is just not true. The author interviews many people who have bullshit jobs. He goes way back and forward to the present time to explain how we got to the point where so many people do unnecessary work. This book rings especially true for me as I realized that, early in my working career, I had a job that was a bullshit job. The things this book talks about are amusing, infuriating, and depressing. I recommend it to those who are willing to look at the reality of the current work environment for many people.
