I devoured this memoir with its humor, warmth and brutal truth. What an amazing woman — a classic to be sure.
From the Back Cover:
First published in 1942 at the height of her popularity, Dust Tracks on a Road is Zora Neale Hurston's candid, funny, bold, and poignant autobiography, an imaginative and exuberant account of her rise from childhood poverty in the rural South to a prominent place among the leading artists and intellectuals of the Harlem Renaissance.

It was hard to follow and didn’t really hold my attention. Love her down though.

So many amazing quotes and a very thought-provoking book.
“Consider that with tolerance and patience, we godly demons may breed a noble world in a few hundred generations or so. Maybe all of us who do not have the good fortune to meet, or meet again, in this world, will meet at a barbecue.”

This book is a great insight into the life and mind of Zora Neale Hurston. Her voice is so clear, the book feels like a conversation with a good friend. Her reflections on her life, love, and race transcend time. This is a book that I see myself picking up again and again at different points in my life. Highly recommend.
