while i liked the writing style and some ideas discussed, the plot felt weirdly chunky and i hate certain characters because of how they were written, it was like a good soup that was ruined by too many undercooked ingredients

Although I did finish this book quite quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed its writing style, the plot just folded together too nicely for my liking by the end, any would-be morally grey characters were redeemed and felt underdeveloped!

My mom died recently, and this book spoke to me in ways no other book could. I LOVED how chaotic the narration was! The plot was slow at the start, I almost gave up on it, but builds up nicely towards an amazing conclusion. All loose ends were tied; the ending wrapped everything up well. There were many triggering moments that made my blood boil. I wished I had read the trigger warnings first before I read this--but I also think it is better that I didnt because if I did, I would not even gather the courage to read this. And as I said before, I needed to read this. Now.

This book felt like it was written for me, a grieving motherless daughter. It was overwhelming to read--it made me face the reality I am trying so hard to escape by reading more fantasy books. All I can say is that this author understands grief. It kinda feels nice to be seen, to see myself represented in a book, to know a character that understands my pain.

This is part of the Time Magazine's "100 Best YA Books of All Time" list, and I clearly see why. This, I believe, is the epitome of YA. It is proof of magic, of destiny. It reminds me that everything will be okay.

Wow! Where do I even start... I loved the way the reader gets all the puzzle pieces and then we get to watch the characters figure things out and talk them out long after we know (or think we know) the whole story. I love how interconnected everything that happens is. I love the way Noah describes his art. Absolutely stunning book!
