That was surprisingly really good. I didn’t expect a short story to get me the way this one did!

"Ghost Writer" is the second book in the "Never Tell" collection available on Amazon.

The Ghost Writer is a story about a woman hired as a ghostwriter for a well known novelist who is hindered by her deteriorating physical condition. Although somewhat predictable, this book was a decent read and reminded me a lot of Riley Sager's Only One Left.

I don't read much Gothic fiction, but this was a great little book. Both the main characters were compelling and had good stories of their own, the setting was classic Gothic horror with all the trimmings, and I had a great time reading this.
There are a couple of twists and turns, of course, and the central mystery was interesting. A really enjoyable read.

Grace Logan is offered a huge sum of money to be the ghost writer for elusive Claudia Blackwood, who was accused of murdering three people but never convicted. However, it turns out that the ghost writer herself might be holding even more secrets of her own.

I'm knocking this one down in its rating because it felt very unoriginal (a hybrid between THE ONLY ONE LEFT and VERITY), and I wasn't taken by the setting. I did like the voice acting the narrator did for one of the servants.
