I need to preface this review by saying I'm not a crime reader. Why did I read it? I broke my cardinal rule when I purchased it in 2015, it was an airport purchase and I grabbed a random "Top 50 reads" when I heard my final boarding call. So that will probably be reflected in my review. My error in doing this is that I chose a book which was 15th in a series so I wanted to know more about Harry and his background.
It must be hard writing a crime novel nowadays as there are so many "CSI-type" programmes and movies that as an author you need that imagination to pull the wool over the reader's eyes. A two crimes in one novel, I expected both stories to intertwine at some point.  My interest in the book waxed and waned. At points I did consider putting it in the DNF pile, part of the tension building? It got a little more interesting as it gathered more pace around a third of the way through and I began to start to enjoying the piecing together of information. And then I couldn't put it down as stayed up all night until I finished it. It was predictable at points but not too soon, it led you into becoming suspicious. I'm not sure if I would read the another book in the series, but I won't say no.
