I was initially disappointed to learn that there weren't anymore Livia Lone stories, but after finishing this, it makes sense. Her story, her revenge, and the revenge of the others she's known along the way, it's over. While I'd love to read another 100 more just like it, it's a pretty decent ending.

I'm sure, had I read the first two books, I would've been into this one. I was super interested by the plot, but got lost in all the mumbo jumbo brought over from the previous books. Sad that I didn't finish this one but it is what it is. onto the next!

In the John Rain novels Eisler's villains tend to be largely rational people who have understandable, but selfish motivations. In his Livia Lone series they are straight up vicious psychopaths. After the Killer Collective I thought he managed to peak in terms of evil villains, but I was wrong.
It would be hard to find a person in fiction as bad as "Snake". There are lots of great insights into the psychology of these people showing Barry Eisler's obsessive research his fans love. The technology and tactical points are also as well done as fans of John Rain are used to.
While he has kept all of his good points this is a very different novel from all of his other ones and he doesn't fall prey to writing the same novel multiple times like other people with a successful series. He fleshes out a lot of characters that were minor in a lot of his other books.
The suspense just keeps getting better and better. I also love the Audible integration. With Kindle Unlimited I get both and this means I don't need to stop reading on my commute. I finished this the first day I started reading it.
This book is ideal for anyone interested in technology, tactics, thrillers, or is interested in sex crimes and the vulnerabilities of people who commit them. With this variety I would suggest this book to a very wide audience. This would make an excellent movie or miniseries.
