This book reminded me why I love this series so damn much :D

While Ethan and Merit are indeed front and center, there is so much story woven in the tapestry that surrounds them. By now we have gotten to know pretty much all major players, but it's fun learning more about them every installment.

Pacing and flow were great. There is a lot of action, but somehow it doesn't feel that way. You just roll with it, we're used to Merit always being in the thick of it, so yeah :)

The book itself is well written with no (noticeable) errors and yes, there is sex described.

All in all, I feel that writing a longer review is pretty much impossible... it's just such a solid series and everything has already been said before :D
One thing though... really looking forward to his marriage proposal when that time comes.

Hmm

So this was a bit heavier on the romance than any of the books thus far in the series. There was a lot of obvious arousals being obvious lol. But yeah this was still action packed to the max. And at the end, there was so much soul searching and love come to ceremonial completion- I won’t lie, there were tears, y’all. This was a solid win in the series. Good read indeed.

Okay. So its the 11th book. At least the number of times Merit's master's degree is mentioned has gradually dropped from 18 per book to only 4 times. But mentions of the future green-eyed baby has taken its place.

So etwas muss man vermutlich mögen. Ich kann mir schon vorstellen, dass solche Szenen für einige Leute langatmig sein könnten. Mich stört das jetzt nicht so, hier ist es mir aber wieder stärker aufgefallen.

What can you really say when one of your top 10 favorite series reaches its 11th book? Not a whole lot that you haven't said in previous reviews, but enough to tell you that it added to the overall series.

Ethan's past has come back to haunt him. Ethan and Merit have to get to the bottom of things before it tears their house apart. I really loved that Ethan and Merit's relationship didn't take any huge hits in DARK DEBT. A lot of the books in the Chicagoland Vampire Series has them on the brink of breaking up, not trusting each other or questioning the others decisions. They have grown into a great team unit and them working together gets way more done than when they are on the opposite side of things.

All of the usual characters are involved and we even get to see Morgan again. Although I don't particularly care for him much, I feel he has grown quite a bit since we first met him. His house is at the forefront of some of the major conflicts in DARK DEBT and it was nice to see him at the table accepting help instead of being a stubborn jerk. Mallory & Catcher brought a whole lot to DARK DEBT. They even stayed at Cadogan House, which tells you how much Mallory has grown back into a person that Merit and Ethan can again trust. They both had a big part in helping resolve the conflict that were brought to the houses attention and I think having them there was one of my favorite parts of the book. I usually like Jonah, but he really disappointed me in DARK DEBT. I'm not sure that his and Merit's friendship will ever be the same.

I don't want this series to end, but I really really want the predictions to finally come in to play. I want to see them play out and not in this is the last book, here is a paragraph of the future kind of way. Having said that, there was a lot of growth in book 11 relationship wise, character wise and past hurt wise and I, as usual, will be waiting for the next book.

I'll never get tired of Merit and Ethan.

Dark Debt is another thrilling installment in the fast paced, exciting Chicagoland Vampires series. Chloe Neill pens a chilling tale of murder and mystery as Merit and Ethan face some of their greatest challenges yet.

Watching Ethan go head-to-head with a powerful vampire from his past is intense. When this interloper arrives in Chicago, it's anyone's guess what his motive is. Ethan's a bit apprehensive and none too happy about discovering this ancient isn't dead, and frankly I don't really blame him. Their history together isn't pretty, and the fear of being tempted down that path again is very real. Even for a master vampire.

Along with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named's return (sorry, trying to avoid spoiling it for anyone), tension and violence really ramp up in the Windy City. Danger always seems to find Merit and Ethan at every turn, and Dark Debt is no exception. Chloe Neill pens some of the best battle sequences I've read; her descriptive blow-by-blow accounts put you right in the middle of the action. She never fails to entice with clever twists and turns which insinuate the complexity of the plot. Each reveal is like a tiny epiphany until, once and for all, the big picture is clear. And it just might not look quite the way you'd expect. In fact I can almost guarantee it. ;)

If we needed a reminder why Ethan Sullivan's the best vampire ever, this book is it. First of all, he's powerful and intelligent, mostly using those gifts for good. He's important and he knows it, but his heart's generally in the right place. I think he feels the weight of responsibility that goes along with his position in the AAM; he knows the value of his actions and carefully calculates every move. He's dominant, decisive and possessive, all attractive traits because what girl doesn't like a man who knows what he wants? Most of all he's able to appreciate and adore Merit. The level of respect he has for her is nice to see in a relationship between two strong, independent characters. He respects who she is as a woman - vampire - and as a soldier. They truly do make a phenomenal pair - one of the best in paranormal romance if you ask me. Those intimate moments together in their apartments don't hurt either. ;)

5 stars! I loved how the mystery unraveled in this one, and I ALSO loved Catcher and Mallory's wedding! :) I may have teared up a little. I hope Ethan properly proposes one of these days.

Holy Wow,
This book is crazy with the excitement. So much happens Merit first can now been called as where before she couldn’t. That is new and freaky especially for her.

Ethan has to confront his past in a big way and then learn to deal with it in ways we are only just learning about.

I love that even though everything is happening and it’s freaking both Merit and Ethan out they still had level heads. Ethan though he might not like it knew that Merit needed some space after what is happening to her. And yes he might be hurt that she isn’t running to him but he also understands.

I loved the wedding! Their vows had me tearing up a little. (I am not saying who the bride and groom were if you know, you know ;) but no spoilers.)

3.5 stars This was a very solid installment in the series. I felt like in many of the books there had been challenges that Merit and Ethan had to face but not as much as a couple. This book defiantly rectified that. With the suppose return of Ethan's Master Drama is every where! It was good to see all the old characters and that there was some comic relief form all the heavy tension. I like that the book had a more "grown up" feel to Merit she can still be snarky and funny but now has lost some of the immaturity that made me want to smacker her. This book made me want to go back and reread the whole series to see how much Merit had changed.
