From the Blurb I kind of got the impression that this book would be about Vlad Dracula and Andrei (what with it "saying this is their story”) and it’s really not. It read more like a history of Vlad Dracul (their father) there’s about 5 mentions of Andrei and Vlad Dracula is not a particularly important character either. And it really was like a historical book, it felt like the author wanted to show off everything he knew about the history of Vlad Dracul and Vlad Dracula but I ended up feeling like I'd just read about a series of things that happened rather than a story with characters who I cared about and invested in.

The thing that annoyed me the most about all this though was the idea that the destroying the catholic church would be a complete victory for lucifer (he's not particularly bothered by any of the other religions in this book), which to me implies that the catholic church is the only religion on the planet that brings humans closer to god which is pretty offensive.

Reading the goodreads comments it seems like this was perhaps written as a prequel to another series so in that context it might work well but as the start of a series or a standalone book it doesn’t work.

I tried, I tried... Much too strategic for my tastes, back and forth, back and forth. Like politics :)... I can see the male audience really enjoying this read.
