The really disconnected writing style and disjointed storyline made it really hard for me to stay focused

Let me start by saying I won an advance copy through Goodreads. And that in no way colored my review.

Because I was blown away. I really didn't expect much, considering the last few giveaway books I won were not that good. Instead, I was treated to a wonderful fantasy story about a girl trying to atone for a past sin and a girl who has had no control over her life, and their intersection.

If I did have to nitpick, I would say that Callanish's need for forgiveness from her mother does seem to come out of nowhere. But the story itself completely drew me in, and I liked the different perspectives of the characters (and that each chapter was labelled with whose voice it was).

I can see not necessarily sequels, but other stories from this world. I would love to know what happens to the rest of the circus, for example.

Thanks Goodreads, for giving me, well, a good read.

Absolutely loved this book. Wondrous, deeply sad and incredibly beautiful all at once.

The words used are undeniably beautiful, like a poem. But I can't really grasp the whole idea and what is going on.

This book is criminally underrated. It is so good. The atmosphere is eerie but sweet and hopeful. The world is messy but beautiful and cruel at the same time. I wasn't expecting this at all, and I'm not disappointed in the least. It's bittersweet and perfect. And a little queer.
