Wow I could not put this book down! I really really enjoyed this one, it was a perfect mix of emotion/vulnerability, pining/lust, and banter. *Chef’s kiss* to this boss assistant romance!! Tali and Hayes have a great dynamic, one that I loved seeing develop into a friendship and more over time. I love when the MMC is head over heels and wants to do anything and everything for the FMC and Hayes definitely delivers even if it is a little under wraps. I think Tali and Hayes’s respective baggage and histories were very realistic particularly how they served as barriers to them committing. The third act breakup definitely had me in my feelings which made the grand gesture all the more rewarding. I absolutely recommend this book and am excited to continue on in the series!

This book cruised along nicely for about 70%, but then it all fell apart badly for me. There was just too much assuming happening, not enough actually asking and communicating. I can’t even say it’s miscommunication, because that would mean using words that are misinterpreted. To be honest, I should’ve just stopped reading but by that time I was almost done already. That’s the only reason I kept going, and I kept getting more and more annoyed by everything. I feel the book could have benefited from seeing Hayes’ POV, and not only through Tali’s eyes, but I don’t think that would have fixed the problems I had with it.

Steam: 3/5 (couple descriptive scenes)
