Yikes. I gave the first book 4 stars, but this was a letdown. šŸ˜¬ First of all, there's no plot. What is this book about, exactly? Fortuna's werewolf buddy, I guess, and some random old folks she's apparently close to. The entire thing felt like filler.
Cora's victory over her aunt was ridiculous. We don't get any explanation for how she was able to overpower the alpha. :|

Fortuna's emotions were so volatile and it didn't come across as a reflection of her trauma. She was just written weirdly. One moment she'll be snapping at Collith, then the next she's completely horny? Unprovoked? Like, Collith/Laurie/Oliver will do something completely mundane and suddenly Fortuna wants to drop her panties. She seems to think that cheating only counts if you've had penis-in-vagina sex. The amount of times she mentions her "core" or her "center"......

There were so many typos, along with odd turns of phrase. This was hilarious to me: "I was the fire to his ice. The shout to his whisper. The run to his walk." What kind of analogy is that, lmao šŸƒšŸ½ā€ā™€ļø The constant use of "male/female" in place of "man/woman" was gross. When those terms are used to refer to werewolves in their wolf forms, sure, I get that, but Fortuna refers to everyone this way. It creeps me out. Maybe this is a staple in fae fantasy that I'm unaware of, along with the use of the word "mate". I hated that too. I sighed with relief when Collith referred to himself as Fortuna's "husband" for once. šŸ¤£Ā

We still haven't gotten an explanation for why Collith fell for her instantly. I have a bad feeling that will never be explained. I'm putting this series on hold, so I might never find out.

I loved it. There are still mysteries waiting to be solved which has me reaching for the next one. Also the ending! That cliffhanger! I love Fortuna and Collith and Laurie never fails to make me smile.Ā

TW: rape, death of a loved one.
This book is dark. I did not expect that. Itā€™s written in a way different way than the first one. Read it with care.

Okk. I liked this book. Not as much as the first one (I think) but Iā€™m not sure. I might just be thrown off bc i didnā€™t like the ending as much. I just found it boring? Like stuff happened but I just didnā€™t seem to care. Idk I was also confused by
the conversation with Fortuna and Damon? At Cyrusā€™s house. Where sheā€™s talking about choices and then heā€™s like wtf and leaves likeā€¦qoui?
Mmm I also love Laurie and maybe I didnā€™t like the end as much bc he wasnā€™t talked about as much after the house burned? Collithā€™s death was also just ā€¦. To me like I guess I liked him but shut the fuck up Fortuna I donā€™t care about your spiraling.

Yeah. I still liked this book it just ended kinda meh for me which I feel like always brings the book down in my head because itā€™s the ending note which is what I usuallyĀ  remember most.Ā
