I started this book shortly after Christmas. For me, this time is a just perfect to read some light stuff, and since this had just been released as a movie on Amazon, I was pretty excited to read it. The book started off strong with arguably the best story, the other two were just okay, with the last being kind of annoying and frustrating, but I liked how the stories intertwined.

If you're looking for something light hearted for winter, this is a great one.

An appropriate book to finish off my winter holidays!

I really enjoyed the characters, and how the three stories were woven together. The atmosphere of the holidays and the snow storm felt quite fun and I like how it gave each story it's own twist.

I'd give the writing and the characters in the first two stories (Maureen Johnson's and John Green's) both a 4/5 and the third story (Lauren Myracle) a 3/5 - the overall writing and plot were a bit weaker and more childish than I usually like in the third one, but it tied in well.

Three sweet love stories for the price of one, with a whole lot of heart and fun!

Akkurat min type bok! Skulle ønske jeg leste denne rett før jul ellers var boken helt super. Jeg leste den egentlig fordi jeg er veldig glad i John Green sine bøker, men endte opp med å like delen som er skrevet av Maureen Johnson best.

Eh. Disappointed.

To be fair, if I was to rate Maureen Johnson's story, I'd probably go with a 3.5. Nothing life changing, but it was quite nice.

John Green's story though. One star. I felt uncomfortable reading it, to be honest. I know this came out in 2008 and John has grown and changed as a person, but wow. The language used to describe characters. He managed to be sexist, ableist and homophobic all in one scene. Also there were unnecessary comments about mental illness. I understand part of it was supposed to show character immaturity but there were far better ways that could've been done. It also didn't help that all of the characters in this story were unlikeable.

I also found that with Lauren Myrcale's story. Addie was awful as a person. I understand again that this was intentional, but it makes it hard to read a story about a character who is just... miserable and grumpy and self-obsessed. There were also some aspects which I think were supposed to be magical but it didn't really come across as that? This one would get a 2 star I think. There were cute aspects, but most of it had me groaning

If more of the characters were likeable across the three stories, and if there was less cheerleader hate and general nastiness to each other in all stories, I may have liked this more.
Sadly, I did not. I must say though, it is definitely a quick read.
Thankfully I have read other John Green and Maureen Johnson books that I have enjoyed more, so I'm not discounting them as authors. I just... I wouldn't recommend this.

3.5*

Overall this was a cute holiday season read. My favourite story was definitely Maureen Johnson's and my least favourite Lauren Myracle's, simply because I detested Addie. However all three stories were pretty adorable and made my cold, cold heart slightly warmer.

Really cute holiday read! The first story was the worst by far. I’d skip that one entirely. But, the second was pure John Green amazingness and the last story was a great tribute to the movie It’s A Wonderful Life. Well written and definitely worth a cold afternoon snuggled under a blanket next to your tree worth a cup of cocoa.

This was an anthology, so I did CAWPILE for all three stories in here and then took the average rating of all of them to get the overall rating for this book. Of course, I've already forgotten the names of each story and I already returned the book to my library, so we're just going with Story 1, 2, and 3.

Story 1 CAWPILE

Characters: 4
Atmosphere: 4
Writing: 3
Plot: 3
Intrigue: 3
Logic/Relationships: 3
Enjoyment: 4

Total: 3.4

Story 2 CAWPILE
C: 4
A: 4
W: 3
P: 3
I: 3
L/R: 3.5
Enjoyment: 3.5

Total: 3.4

Story 3 CAWPILE

C: 3
A: 3
W: 3
P: 3
I: 4
L/R: 3.5
E: 3

Total: 3.2

Average score: 3.4 + 3.4 + 3.2 = 10 / 3 = 3.3 = 3 stars.

Well, technically none of these stories are well written, but they are fun! And fun is all that matters this time of year right?

A fun, lighthearted read for Christmas break. Loved how the short stories (novellas?) blended together and I loved the quirky but distinct voices of the three contributing authors. Also, Lauren Myracle responded to me on Twitter when I tweeted about reading the book and I'm still fangirling about it.

It was a quite fun light read!
I'd give "Jubileee Express" and "A Cheertastic Christmas" a 4/5 stars and "The Patron Saint of Pigs" a 3.5/5 stars!
