Come for the illustrations/artwork, quasi-retelling based off Brothers Grimm, and the creepy and foreboding atmosphere and mood. The artwork is immersive and creative (engaging text bubbles), though it reminded me of newspaper cartoons, Matilda, and Curious George. Some impactful, haunting verses, songs, refrains, also a highlight. Second and fourth stories, of a girl helping her friend con others with false medium readings and her subsequent invisible haunting seen by narrator, and the girl moving to a mansion (just married) and hears a haunting verse and finds something there. A good read for the front porch at night, watching a nearby storm or listening to the rain.saldre's review against another edition

Our Neighbour's House: this one went over my head. I didn't get it at all
A Lady's Hands are Cold: I really loved the colour palette for this one, but it was pretty basic
His Face So Read: too much is left unexplained here for the story to have any real impact
My Friend Janna: this was fine, it had more explanation, but the story didn't really go anywhere interesting
The Nesting Place: the most well-rounded of the stories
Graphic: Animal death, Body horror, Death, Gore, Blood, and Murder
Moderate: Confinement, Terminal illness, Death of parent, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Ableism, Vomit, Grief, Fire/Fire injury, and Alcohol
